Everybody insisted that I read the book before I watch the movie so I caved and started reading Krabat



It's a story about a young boy who becomes an apprentice in a mill but soon discovers that there is more to the mill than meets the eye. Namely that the skills he is learning are in fact black magic

As I've mentioned in the gothic literature thread I just made, I'm about to start reading a classic. Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. I always loved the misunderstood creature that is Frankenstein's monster but I've never read the novel. A friend tells me it is sort of boring but that the monster is very different from how the world generally perceives it, that it is more like the tormented thinker from penny dreadful than the shambling monster everybody thinks about. That is what got me sold on the book immediately, I just skipped the "it might be boring part"

Finished reading Krabat and I can honestly say it's great! It might not be as sexy and exciting as novels are nowadays but it's still pretty good
The movie on the other hand is a piece of crap!
It seems the old adage of "the book was better" is very true in this case
