I did some digging and here is a breakdown of the Skaven novels...

Firstly you should check out the Slayer series. It's about Gotrek Gurnisson, a dwarf trollslayer, and his human companion Felix. It's probably the most popular series of novels in the Warhammer (fantasy) universe and the only thing I've actually read. The reason I mention it (besides it being cool as hell and worthy of a recommendation to anyone) is because there are a lot of Skaven in it. The second book in the series (after "Trollslayer") is called "Skavenslayer" and almost half of it follows the (mis)adventures of Gray Seer Thanqol, one of the most well known Skavens in Warhammer. Thanqol continues to appear in other Slayer novels although not as much as in "Skavenslayer", but, he has a trilogy of novels on his own (namely, "Grey Seer", "Temple of the Serpent" and "Thanqol's Doom")

Besides the Thanqol books you have "Headtaker" which follows Queek Headtaker, on of the greatest Skaven champions and "The Rise of the Horned Rat" which deals with the Skaven during the End Times (a worldwide apocalypse that destroyed the Warhammer universe as we know it)

Besides those novels you should check out the army books like Rathamon said. The are also rife with fluff

I wanted to check if Marek missed anything, started looking through the net for any Skaven novels and found this gem



It's a Left 4 Dead style co-op survival game except instead of zombies you have Skaven, and instead of guns you have, well... guns, but also axes, swords and most importantly FIREBALLS! Yeah, you guessed it, one of the characters is a bright wizard!
